37 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for the Environment the total number of fines paid by enterprises in respect of discharge licence breaches in 1995; the average fine paid in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12329/96]
Information is not available in my Department regarding payment of fines arising under the Water Pollution Acts, 1977 and 1990. Information on prosecutions taken under those Acts by local authorities in 1994, the most recent year for which details are available, is contained in the Environment Bulletin, Issue 28; a copy of this is available in the Oireachtas Library.
