asked the Minister for Energy if his Department have had a claim from Leitrim County Council in respect of the road at Bullugbeagh, Manorhamilton, County Leitrim which was damaged during the construction of forestry roads in the area; and if his Department will now compensate the council for the damage done to this road.

Statutory responsibility for funding the repair of county roads, such as the road in question, rests with the Minister for the Environment. My Department, however, have been in contact with the Department of the Environment about the question of catering for the type of problem indicated in the future allocation of road grants.
